Storycrafting and Deep Democracy facilitation - Intense Training for representatives of minority groups

This two-day seminar in Hamburg brings together Yezidi women from Iraqi Kurdistan alongside leaders from other minority communities to strengthen their voices, leadership skills, and capacity for community impact by addressing the root causes of conflicts. Through experiential small group workshops, transformational storytelling, and deep democracy conflict resolution practices, participants will explore their inner resources and develop practical tools for leadership and dialogue.

The training includes a public round table, connecting minority women leaders with Hamburg’s civil society, foundations, and academic partners. The seminar creates a strong bridge between local and global perspectives, fostering resilience, intercultural understanding, and visions for peacebuilding.

It concludes with co-creating a podcast episode and a co-created article to invite a broader public into the shared learning process.

What is DEEP DEMOCRACY:

Deep Democracy (also called Process Work) is a multidimensional approach to the whole system that takes into account the natural flow of development hidden behind polarizations and conflicts in any environment. Originally developed by Arnold Mindell, it is a community-building approach and a conflict facilitation model that works with the entirety of the information that is present within a system. It can be used to coach individuals, facilitate teams and organizations, and lead and support national and international processes across communities and borders.

On a whole it takes into account any information that is present in different forms, e.g verbal (via different roles), auditory, kinesthetic, proprioceptive, dreams, physical symptoms, outside disturbances. By acknowledging what is present it provides a gateway to enter to the deeper essence of the information that might be marginalised by outside/in ourself/in the system.

This Deep Democracy Lab focusse on concepts of transformational storytelling, impactful sharing and dialogue facilitation.
